Taking Care of Stainless Steel Jewelry
Caring for your stainless steel accessories is pretty much the same as caring for jewelry of other makes, in fact, it’s even easier.
1. Avoid scratches, at all cost!
Like with silver or even gold jewellery, stainless steel can still get scratched and etched – and the only way to deal with it is by getting a buffing service. Of course, unless your piece is very expensive, buffing isn’t really practical, so avoid scratches. You can minimize the risk of getting scratches by following some tips below:
- Avoid putting it in your pocket without its proper jewelry bag, or at least a plastic cover.
- For earrings, it’s recommended that you store one away from the other – that is, using two jewelry bags. Earrings may scratch one another, which is more likely if you keep them in tight spaces like your pockets.
Never forget to store your accessories on their jewelry bag, in a cool dark place. Stainless steel doesn’t tarnish, it’ll be safe there and there’s no need for airtight storing and the like.
Overall, you care for them like how you would care for your other things. Remember that while they’re cheaper than probably most of your jewel collection, they still need the TLC!
